I started in the industry as a developer and spent more than 11 years switching between different stacks, in addition, I have been leading tech teams since 2012.

    Work Experience

    CTO - Exoticca

    Jan 2019 - Present

    Exoticca is a tech travel company leading the multi-day tour package space. As a CTO at Exoticca I built the technology team with more than 60 members and structured them in a domain-based squad, in addition, I helped the whole company adopt methodologies like Scrum and OKRs. I'm directly reporting to the CEO and also part of the Board.

    A list of other responsibilities and duties that I am currently doing or have been doing:

    • Manage the whole technology budget.
    • Build the first and current cloud architecture based on AWS and managed by IaC.
    • Define a product-tech roadmap aligned with the company's direction.
    • Structure and phase long-term projects into 2-week Sprints.
    • Define the strategy to migrate the whole frontend and backend.
    • Define a seamless architecture for all the teams helping them to understand different contexts.
    • Implement and define a career growth plan with different job levels and roles.
    • Build the Data team and data-driven strategy for the company.
    • Hiring and retention strategies, implementing a training budget, sponsoring conferences, and in-house training knowledge.
    • Define the development cycle policies, and speed up the delivery cycle in production from one deployment per week to 20 deployments per day.
    • Implement robust monitoring and observability culture to react fast once we detect some anomaly.

    CTO - Social & Beyond

    Social & Beyond is a marketing application that transforms a company's free POS Wi-Fi into a social media marketing tool.

    I joined the company as a CTO reporting directly to the CEO. I focused on the following milestones:

    • Grow the development team of 2 to 10 engineers.
    • OKRs and agile culture in all departments.
    • CI/CD for all applications, development, and staging environments, speeding up the delivery and reducing bugs.
    • Train technology members with all the stack.
    • Simplify the product by challenging and defining business KPIs.

    Web team consists of 5 backends, 2 frontends, 3 QA, a product manager and a tech lead. As a tech lead in Web team my main responsibilities are: Leading in definition of the tech objectives for each quarter and monitoring of these during each sprint.
